High Chess with Tea

  • "High Chess with Tea" (from unknown artist)

  • Well, come on - it's colorful at the very least. And it gives some idea of history. For so long we've been playing this great game - battling our wits against someone to show whose the daddy. Are they just dressed up for some stage presentation, maybe to go out for tea later, and actually live in Los Angeles, commuting daily on the 101? Or does it speak of a lost age when men were men, but wore funny clothes just for the hell of it? As they pore over the chess board are they really thinking - 'I wonder if Emily Jane likes my new breech boots? - they cost me an arm and a leg'.
You know - we shouldn't mock - stop mocking. In 100 years from now they'll laugh at your funny clothes. It is of course, a classic painting around a chess game that tells us how noble society along with other social classes have enjoyed chess through the ages.
