The Earl Anthony Chess Set Triple Weight in Bud Rosewood (X2028)
Words fail us. But we'll try. The detail on the knight is so beautiful that it almost looks like it could breathe. The head is set slightly downwards in an unusual thought provoking pose as if considering the next best strategy. The lower lip of the knight is precise and clean. The mane style has a flourish. The muscles of the knight are defined such that the light catches different parts of the face and neck with different angles. The other pieces? Sleek, well defined. The rook has a generous torso and is well balanced. Nothing matches the excelling detail of this magnificent set. The photography is good but it's too difficult to catch the real beauty of the set with a two dimensional photo, or indeed, with these inadequate words. A set to pass on to the next generation. We recommend a board with 2 inch squares.
